Getting involved

Involved in Community

Columbia City Church of Hope seeks to provide a place where people can integrate their various experiences of life through ritual, community, and story. We seek to shape our imagination in the prophetic confidence that God is at work in the world and to practice ways of seeing it.

  • Community Garden

In March every year, we begin the process of growing fresh vegetables and fruits in our community garden. We have two communal garden beds with individuals digging their own beds every year (but we are always open to sharing space)! We've grown kale, blueberries, strawberries, squash, flowers, and more! What life would you like to add to our community?

  • Mary's Place

Columbia City Church of Hope hosts families (up to 14 people: homeless moms and their kids) in partnership with Mary's Place. We host twice a year in the spring and fall. Check Our Calendar for future dates or call for info.

We need volunteers each day to:
prepare and serve a warm, nutritious dinner (5-7pm)
    serve as evening hosts (6-9pm)
    spend the night (9pm-7:30am)
    donate breakfast foods
    clean the space

You can sign up online to volunteer. More info about all of these tasks is available on the online sign-up page. Please include a phone number when you sign up online so that the coordinators may contact you if necessary.

Please contact Darla at Church of Hope, 206.722.5651, if you have questions.

Thanks for showing hospitality to women and kids in need!

  • Compass Crossing

In 2017, we are proud to partner with Compass Housing with 13 new housing units in our parking lot with dignified housing and people-centered services to help people transition out of homelessness.

  • Kids & Race Program

We are collaborating with The Well and other community leaders to offer workshops and resources to help parents and children go beyond the superficial notion of colorblindness in order to see and challenge the ways that white privilege still shapes our lives.

Involved in Stewardship

Through this community of faith, God offers us the incredible privilege of being the face and hands and feet of God for each other and for this beautiful, hurting world. If you find a spiritual home at Columbia City Church of Hope, we invite you to consider making a pledge: to commit to a certain amount that feels right for you and giving on a regular weekly or monthly basis. Pledge cards are available each year in autumn, for financial gifts as well as for volunteering of time and energy. You may set up a recurring donation through the secure link on our website.
